KERALA AYURVEDIC MASSAGE FOR BODY AND JOINT PAINS

I still remember the days when the clock struck 6 and my grandma would take me to the park. We used to play catch and walk while she asked me all about my day, my school friends and teachers. It was almost a habit and so much fun. Last week when I visited her, it had been 10 years since our frolic adventures ended. The idea of her being able to run and play with me seemed too far-fetched.

We’ve mostly heard about the joint pains, back pains and other kinds of pains to be associated with ageing. However, joint pains, back pains and certain arthritic pains aren’t uncommon among millenials and younger cohorts either. Kids as young as high schoolers are reeling with terrible back pains. Problems and pains as these call for sustainable, long term solutions. Wellness as a way of life can help you battle all such pains, staying consistent is the key.

With incremental steps, we at Wellness County believe in ‘ Wellness As A Way Of Life’. You can actually take care of all such pains and problems with relaxing and rejuvenating ayurvedic treatments. Kerala Panchakarma therapies have shown visibly great experiences in the past. These therapies can be performed in many ways depending upon your needs. Some of the therapies are:

  • Abhyanga: This is a herbal-oil massage for complete body and mind relaxation. Abhyanga is an adaptation of the primal and absolutely basic need of every living being. Meant to seep deep into your skin, Abhyanga aims to break up the impurities which accentuates the nutrient absorption by cells. This in turn also accelerates the discarding of impurities from the body. Hence, it heals you from within, making you free of stress, any kind of pain, tensions and stiffness in your muscles and body relaxation. Relief from headaches and eye-strains are added benefits it offers.
  • Januvasti: This is a therapy that helps greatly to relieve your body of joint pains which can be triggered due to any condition. It also helps in strengthening the knee joints. In Januvasti, we prepare around the knee a reservoir like figure made using black gram paste/ This reservoir is then filled with warm, medicated oil followed by a relaxing massage of the area.
  • Elakkizhi: Also known as Patra Pinda Sweda, this innovative classical treatment makes use of herbal bundles prepared from various herbs, collectively called poultices. Infused with various herbs, these poultices are heated to moderate temperatures comfortable to the body. They are heated in medicated oils and then applied to the required joints or muscles. Elakkizhi is a rejuvenating experience, helping immensely with joint pains and arthritis pains.
  • Kativasti: This is one of the most preferred and effective treatments for chronic back pain, weakness in the lower limbs and spondylitis. In Kativasti, we warm some medicated oil and then put it on the lower back. Retaining this oil there is really helpful for the pains.
  • Shirodhara: In this treatment, we pour warm, medicated oil over the forehead. The Ayurvedic principle behind this is to envision the human body as an inverted tree. Just as we cater to the roots of a tree for nourishment and a rich growth, we need to nurture our mind. Shirodhara aids in overall relaxation of the body and mind, rejuvenating all sensory organs. It is excellent for diseases related to the central nervous system.
